Duy Hung Review

Warsaw Local visited Duy Hung on Śniadeckich 22, Warszawa, Saturday, 7th February 2016

Duy Hung was nominated by a friend was the most addictive Chinese in Warsaw, these were bold claims so we had to check it out!

Finding the location

In all our reviews we use the Palace of Culture and Science as a point of reference. Now, it is possible to walk from the Palace here, it is much simpler to jump of one of the many trams as they all go in the same direction.

If you want to walk then it would take you about 20 minutes.

If you have a GPS enabled smartphone, then just jump on the number 15 tram and get off at any tram as you get closer to the location. The tram can only go straight, so it is pretty easy.

Here is a picture of the front of the venue:

Prices and Menu

There was no menu served. Everything is on the wall. There is a much larger menu above the counter, but it is only in Polish. The is another large menu, in Polish again but it does have pictures so you can just point and what looks good.

This is the cheapest place we have ever eaten at! I was told it was cheap, but it just blew my mind. We ordered Kurczak w ciescie and kurczak po chinsku. The total bill came to only 21zl and I am told there is even a student discount available.

Our Personal Experience

Quality of food and Waiting time

Even though we went on a Saturday, it was pretty empty but I am told there are large universities in the area, so it is likely to be a lot busier during school hours. We waited about eight minutes for our food from ordering.

The Kurczak w ciescie was great! It came with no sauce, but there was a free self server of sweet and sour sauce, which is a must have for this dish. The balls were packed with boneless chicken and it was served with a rice. The rice was a little boring and bland, but some sweet and sour sauce solved that problem.

The kurczak po chinsku was surprisingly good, it was a very large portion and was nicely cooked. It was boneless with a crispy coating. Again, it was served with the same boring rice, but I am starting to think that sweet and sour sauce can save any dish.

Services

The services is pretty non-existent, but what do you expect for about four euros? You go to the counter and the lady shouts your order in Polish once it is done.

Decor and Atmosphere

Duy Hung is impressively clean! The tables, chairs, payment counter and all visible surfaces were spotless.

Language barriers

The lady behind the desk spoke great English, but the whole menu is in Polish. As mentioned above, they do have a smaller menu on the wall with pictures but there are also no prices. Also, the lady shouted our order in Polish, Luckily my guest was Polish, as a non-native speaker I might have been sat waiting for awhile.

Room for Improvement and things to note

You get what you pay for, I could pick at things like the menu and service but you won’t find anything with this price within walking distance.

Overall we loved our visit to Duy Hung. This place is a students dream and perfect for a backpacker who wants to fill their stomach for as cheap as possible.
