Once a year there is a major art event in Poland and this month it is back! From September 22 (Friday) – September 24 (Sunday), 2017 you’ll find the the largest showing and reviewing of contemporary art in Poland

Within the dates of Warsaw Gallery Weekend only 30 special exhibitions prepared for this occasion will take place, but also you’ll personally have the opportunity to meet their authors, attend meetings, discussions, tours and more events focused around contemporary art.

Warsaw Gallery Weekend has traditionally opened the artistic season on the Vistula River. At the same time, its international reputation has attracted a multitude of professionals – curators, journalists, critics and directors of leading galleries and museums – all over the world. Warsaw is considered to be the one of the most dynamically developing art scene in Europe and is seen as an all must travel destination point for foreign artists on their travels. The Warsaw Gallery Weekend is a great opportunity to become up to date with the latest works of renowned artists, discover hot names and maybe even make a purchase.

For the organizers of the event, however, the most important thing is direct contact with art lovers, as well as those who visit the gallery from time to time. In contrast to large museum institutions, galleries are places where you can talk to artists and gallery owners in private but relaxed atmosphere, get to know the latest trends and inner wokrings of the art market. It is also a chance to find out what a contemporary art gallery is – the space of experimentation and the forging of new ideas.

The uniqueness of the Warsaw Gallery Weekend is that it is not just based in location but in nearly 30 locations throughout Warsaw! This makes it even more exciting for the art lover, as you work your way through the a city with so much history to discover something new.

The invited artists that will be show casing their work come from many different areas of art from classics of photography and video art , from feminist and political art (lokal_30, Institute of Photography Fort) From painting and spatial objects, to textile and much more.

All exhibitions within the Warsaw Gallery Weekend are presented for the first time – they have been prepared by the galleries specially for this occasion, many works will come directly from the artists’ studios. The event program is complemented by curatorial meetings, debates and tours organized in cooperation with institutional partners (CSW, Ujazdowski Castle, Zachęta, Museum of Modern Art, National Museum) and patrons of the event (T-Mobile, Suzuki).

Warsaw Gallery Weekend is supported and helped by the leading private galleries in Warsaw. Most of the exhibitions will be open until the end of October 2017. Here is a list of all the different locations that will be participation in the showing.
